WE ARE A CHURCH WHO IS...

ROOTED IN SCRIPTURE • COMMITTED TO GOD'S GLORY • LOVING IN COMMUNITY

Our Mission: Guided by a high view of God and His written Word as our supreme authority, our mission is to equip and empower believers to joyfully live holy lives, selflessly serve one another, and boldly share the gospel of Jesus Christ as we humbly give all the glory to God.

Our Vision: Reviving a love for God's Word as the foundation of our lives, foster God-honoring worship, and actively engage in community outreach to make a lasting impact in Abilene.

“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Matthew 28:18-20

Our High View of Scripture

Expository Preaching

What is it?

  • An expositional lesson takes the original intent of a passage of Scripture, makes it the main point of the lesson, and applies it to the life today.

Where is it in the Bible?

  • According to Scripture, God accomplishes what He wants to accomplish through speaking...
  • The Bible has many examples of this kind of preaching and teaching...
  • On the other hand, God condemns those who "speak of their own imagination..."

Why is it important?

  • Expositional preaching is important because God's Word convicts, converts, builds up, and sanctifies...
  • Preaching that focuses on the main point of the text ensures that God's agenda, not the preacher's, guides the church.
